The red "Copilot cannot be reached" message typically indicates a connectivity or access problem rather than an issue with the icon itself. Use these steps to troubleshoot:
- Run the Copilot connectivity troubleshooter
This checks for firewall rules or other blockers that might prevent Copilot from connecting.- Open the Get Help app on the device.
- In the Search bar, type Copilot connectivity troubleshooter.
- Select it in the results and follow the on-screen steps.
- Apply any fixes it suggests and then try the Copilot icon again.
- If the issue might be licensing-related
If Copilot was working before or is only failing in certain Microsoft 365 apps, run the license troubleshooter:- Open Get Help.
- In the Search bar, type Copilot License Troubleshooter.
- Follow the steps and apply any recommended fixes.
- Review the troubleshooter results
After each troubleshooter runs, Get Help will list findings and suggested remedies. If one of these resolves the problem, close Get Help and try using the Copilot icon again.
If the troubleshooters do not resolve the problem, use Get Help’s support options (personal or work/school) for further assistance.
