Microsoft 365 Developer Program - Will my E5 sandbox tenant be automatically renewed after 60 days?

I joined the Microsoft 365 Developer Program using my corporate account. My company is a Microsoft Solutions Partner, and I created a test tenant to develop and validate some solutions.

In the Developer Portal, I can see that my tenant currently has 61 days remaining. However, I know that my development activities will last much longer than 60 days, so I would like to understand whether this tenant will be renewed automatically.

My main concern is losing all the configurations, applications, and settings that I am currently putting in place.

In the Developer Portal, I also see the label "Renewable E5 subscription", which suggests that the subscription can be extended.

Could someone clarify how the renewal process works?

  • Is the subscription renewed automatically as long as I keep actively using the tenant?
  • Is there any specific activity required to qualify for renewal (for example, deploying apps, creating users, generating traffic, etc.)?
  • Are there any best practices to avoid losing the tenant and its configuration if my project lasts several months?

Thank you in advance for any clarification.
