Microsoft Project vs Planner

I believe Microsoft Project was one of the best software for Project Management giving great Gantt Charts and giving a great view of different projects together. We are talking about big projects.

Planner is more intuitive, however, it looks very simple, the Gantt Chart seems very vague, and I find difficult to understand that Planner is on the same capabilities that Microsoft Project.

Any comment on this please?

Best regards,

Javier

    Hello @Rodriguez, Javier,

Regarding your inquiry, please see the comparison below between Microsoft Planner and Microsoft Project:

Microsoft Planner is a lightweight, cloud-based task management tool included with most Microsoft 365 subscriptions. It is designed for simplicity and ease of use, enabling teams or individuals to create plans, assign tasks, and collaborate effectively. Its primary focus is task management, making it well-suited for smaller teams or straightforward projects where advanced scheduling and detailed project controls are not required.

Microsoft Project, on the other hand, is a comprehensive project management solution intended for planning and managing complex projects. It allows organizations to build detailed project schedules, allocate and track resources, monitor progress, and manage budgets. With features such as advanced reporting and portfolio management, it is commonly used by project managers overseeing large-scale or multi-phase projects across various industries, including construction, manufacturing, healthcare, and financial services.

In summary, Microsoft Planner is ideal for simple task coordination and team collaboration, while Microsoft Project is better suited for advanced project management scenarios that require detailed planning, resource management, and cost control.

Please let me know if further clarification is required.
