I updated my OS disk to sequoia using opencore patcher but since doing that microsoft doesn't seem to update and fails to open every few days while trying to update. Then i received an email from MS stating - Starting on 13 July 2026, a security certificate update is required to keep Microsoft 365 and Office apps current. On devices that cannot support this update, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and OneNote will switch to view-only mode. You can still open and read all your files, but editing and saving will not be available on this device. Based on our records, one of the macOS devices linked to your account cannot run macOS 12 (Monterey) or later. This means it will not be able to fully support Microsoft 365 apps after 13 July. Your subscription is active, your account is unchanged and everything you have saved in OneDrive is still yours. Here's how to keep going: Your files are safe.

How can I fix this?

Sorry to hear you're having trouble.

I see by your post that you used Opencore Patcher. From my research it seems that patcher is used when MacOS no longer supports their hardware. This issue you're having right now may not be specifically due to your update but the system itself. If it was not able to update properly then it may be the system could be too old regardless of the OS you're using.

However, you should still be able to use Word, etc online instead of installing the service.
