Exchange licensing and DAG

These questions pertain to Exchange server 2016/2019..

Is it a requirement to have enterprise licensing to deploy an Exchange DAG? I see that standard licensing only allows up to 5 mounted databases. Is that per Exchange server node or?

I read somewhere that Exchange standard databases are limited to 1Tb in size, is that accurate?

If you were to create a DAG and add another Exchange Server, then replicate those 2 databases to the new server, then each server would have 2 databases each.
That would allow you to add 3 more databases and replicate them to each server - 5 total on each.

Once they reach 1TB, you either add another DB and move mailboxes ( as long as each server has 5 or less DBs) - or - upgrade to Enterprise - then you dont care - add as many as you need DB-wise.

You can use standard exchange in a dag but that means in practical terms you can’t have more than 5 databases on each server in that dag since 5 mounted dbs max is allowed
And yes 1tb is the limit

The database Copy will also occupy a place. The "5 databases" is a limitation on "active database" + "database copy".

For Exchange standard, you can't mount databases that are larger than 1024 GB. There is no default database size limit for the Enterprise Edition. You could have a look about this article.
