Hi, I'm John! I will help you with this.

You normally need the full Epson printer/scanner software, not just the basic Windows printer driver.

If you haven't tried anything yet:

    • Go to the official Epson Support website.
    • Search for WF-4820.
    • Choose Windows 11 if it does not detect it automatically.
    • Download and install the Drivers and Utilities Combo Package.
    • After installing, open Epson ScanSmart or Epson Scan 2 and try scanning from there.

If the printer is wireless, make sure the laptop and printer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. If it is USB, plug it in directly and avoid using a hub for now.

If issue still persists, to help narrow down the issue:

    1. Are you connecting the WF-4820 by Wi-Fi or USB?
    2. Can you already print from the laptop, and only scanning is not set up?
    3. Do you get any error when you open Epson ScanSmart or Epson Scan 2?

Please see "Scanning" on page 155 of your WF-4820 Series User's Guide. Excerpt:

"Make sure you installed the product software and connected the product to your computer or network. Note: Restart your computer after installing the product software to enable scanning from the control panel."
