Hello Microsoft Support,

I am a full-time student at Tribhuvan University, Nepal. I am trying to activate Azure for Students using my official university email, but Azure says that it cannot verify my academic status / university ID. Could you please manually verify my student status or guide me through the verification process?

I can provide:

  • Student ID Card

-Official University Email - Transcript (if required) Thank you.

    Hello Nabin Adhikari,

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A,

When Azure can't verify your university domain directly, the most reliable fallback is verifying through the GitHub Student Developer Pack instead. Many students whose university isn't in Azure's direct verification list get through this way since GitHub and Azure share the same academic verification backend.

    Here's the path:

    1. Go to GitHub Education and apply for the GitHub Student Developer Pack using your university email and student ID photo.
    2. Once approved, go to your GitHub Education benefits page and find Microsoft Azure under your benefits.
    3. From there, go to the Azure for Students activation page and choose Sign in with GitHub instead of your Microsoft/university account.
    4. Make sure the email on your GitHub account matches or is verified against the one you're using on Azure, mismatches are the most common reason this fails even after GitHub approves you.
