It appears I have been paying for Microsoft 365 when I have a paid license for the software. Can someone please assist in getting this conflict resolved. I do not want to loose any document I have created.

Hi, I'm John! I will help you with this.

    About losing files:

Your documents should remain yours. Canceling Microsoft 365 does not delete Word, Excel, or PowerPoint files. However, if you use OneDrive and your storage goes over the free limit after canceling, syncing or editing online files may be affected until storage is reduced or renewed.

Please check this page using the Microsoft account you normally use: https://account.microsoft.com/services Do you see both a Microsoft 365 subscription and a one-time Office license there?

Also, what exact Office license do you have, such as Office 2021, Office 2024, or Microsoft 365 Personal/Family? Lastly, did you buy Microsoft 365 directly from Microsoft, or through Apple, Google Play, or another seller?
