Hello Community,
I thought I would put it out there. I own two Synology NAS with the latest OS version and both of them for days now... could not be found over SMB Windows Explorer connectivity over to DSM for Synology Linux. The issue is not a technical problem with the Synology NAS. The issue is a bug in Windows 10. It turned out that I moved from the first apartment to the second. Both had a similar model of router. When I plugged in and powered on both server they showed up on network fine but SMB showed as 'No connection found' when trying to map a network drive. I worked on this for 3 days. I finally found the solution.

Solved:
Re-name the servers. Even adding a 1 to the end of the name and instantly you may now map the NASs again. I re-named the servers to good names but I tested with just a number one and it worked too.

Sincerely,
Michael

I just had the same issue after updating from Windows 10 1803 to 20H2.
Removing and recreating credentials from Windows Credential Manager, as suggested on other forums, didn't help.

However, I suspected eventually SMB to be the issue and after a bit of searching in the File Services settings within DSM (Synology UI), I have found the SMB settings, which were set to SMB1 in my case.

    This has worked for me:

    1. Stop SMB Services
    2. Maximum SMB protocol = SMB3
    3. Minimum SMB protocol = SMB2
    4. Start SMB Services

    Hope that helps.

Does anyone have a permanent solution to keep the same name for the Synology server when changing to a new router without getting blocked? So far, I have found not solution with my colleagues who all use Synology. Two of them have had this issue also when they bought a new router and this was mentioned to me over text message to solve it for my new home. So it is a known bug.
