Launch VM mode missing in D365FO training modules — June 2026

Question

I'm trying to complete hands-on exercises in Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations Microsoft Learn modules (e.g., MB-310 Finance track), but the "Launch VM mode" / "Sign in to launch lab" option is not appearing on exercise units where it previously worked. This was working for me as recently as last Thursday and stopped since.

This doesn't appear to be limited to Microsoft Learn — third-party training VM providers (e.g., AXcademy) that resell Microsoft-prepared D365FO training environments are also currently showing these VMs as unavailable, with a notice stating they are waiting on Microsoft for status updates on the affected environments. This suggests an underlying platform/infrastructure issue rather than something specific to my account.

Could you confirm:

1. Whether this is a known, ongoing issue and if there's a tracked status/ETA for resolution
2. Whether this affects all D365FO Learn modules or a subset
3. Whether this is expected to be resolved within the next 1-2 weeks, or if it's likely to be a longer-term removal
4. Are there any other free VM/sandbox options available for D365FO hands-on practice in the meantime, official or otherwise
5. Any recommended interim alternative for hands-on practice while this is down
