Kindle access issues

I recently bought a Windows 11 Surface Pro after receiving a message that it would no longer support the Kindle app as of June 30, 2026. I'm working on my master's and use it for my texts. Now I cannot access Kindle from my new Surface Pro. I checked for updates, I uninstalled, tried adding it from my Amazon account, tried adding it from the Microsoft Store, and attempted to find an older version to download, as mentioned in the forum. I can now access my school texts only on my phone. If someone has dumbed down steps for accessing Kindle on my Surface Pro, I would be grateful.

Amazon discontinued the old Kindle for PC app on June 30, 2026, and replaced it with a new Kindle for Windows app available through the Microsoft Store. However, the new app does not currently support Windows on ARM devices. So, if your Surface Pro uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor—as many of the newer Surface Pro models do—you may find that the Microsoft Store won't let you install the app, or it may simply fail to work properly after installation. This explains why everything you've tried so far has been unsuccessful, even though it seemed like it should have worked.

Use Kindle Cloud Reader in a web browser if your textbooks support it.
