Problem with Word

I had a Microsoft Word pop up I couldn't exit except through force quit. Now I can't use Word because of a banner on top of documents saying "activate microsoft 365 to create and edit". Is this a legitimate message or phishing. I have microsoft 365 through my workplace and this is a holiday weekend, and there's no one I can contact from IT. Do I have to accept the "activate" message. Is there any way to continue using "Word" without activating it? I'm at [Moderator note: Personally Identifiable Information removed]@whyy.org

You will have to check with the IT support at work to find out what may have happened with your license.
