Microsoft Authenticator log in requires Microsoft Authenticator code.

Question

Tried to log into Microsoft Admin. That required the code from Microsoft Authenticator. Tried to log into Microsoft Authenticator and get open Authenticator and approve the request. Select I can't use my Microsoft Authenticator app right now. The only options are Approve a request on My Microsoft Authenticator app or use a verification code which says enter the code on Microsoft Authenticator app.

When I tried the Get support - Microsoft 365 Admin | Microsoft Learn, I could not get by IVR (automated system) because IVR (automated system) could not get the domain correct. I even went letter by letter but the IVR (automated system) kept getting the domain incorrect as it was adding a period where there was none. Apparently, if the domain is not accepted the path ends and there is not a way to ask for an agent.

However, in this case the problem was that the new cell phone I was using was not iphone that Microsoft Authenticator was set up on. I forgot I changed phones.

I had found mysignins.microsoft.com and under Security info was listed the old cell. Fortunately, I had the old cell phone and was able to authenticate the new phone and authenticate to log into the Windows computer.

If you are the only Global Admin:

Option 1: You may need to contact the Data Protection Team at the service phone number via this link: Customer service phone numbers - Microsoft Support.

The main objective is to go through the IVR (automated system) until you reach a live agent and emphasize this very important security factor. Please help me try this script below, this is a commonly used script for authentication issues to bypass IVR, but you can try to see if it helps get through the system. Please help me to speak loudly, only keywords, clearly and patiently waiting for the machine's response. First, when you call the hotline, they will ask you what kind of problem you are facing with.

Option 2: Create a new tenant with trial subscription to access and submit a ticket in the Admin Center.

Once you contact the Data Protection team, you will be required to provide proof of ownership of the company. This allows them to verify their identity and help reassign the Global Administrator account.
