I have locked my laptop from Microsoft app and now when I try to unlock it it does not allow me. I am the administrator and în the Microsoft app I get an error message when I try to reach the device.

The device is connected to the internet.

I tried also the forgot my pin, in case there was a different pin but I only get a black screen and it returns me to the same screen that device was locked by an administrator.

What can I do?

Hi,

I'm sorry to say that if you locked your device online using Find My Device on your Microsoft account, there is no direct way to unlock it. This feature is designed as a security measure in case the device is lost or stolen.

The only way to regain access is to reset your computer or perform a clean installation of Windows. Please note that a clean installation will delete your files, apps, and settings, while Reset this PC may allow you to choose whether to keep your personal files, depending on the available reset options.

From the sign in screen:

  1. Press and hold the Shift key, then click the Power icon and select Restart while continuing to hold Shift.
  2. This will take you to the Windows Recovery Environment.
  3. Select Troubleshoot > Reset this PC.

If this doesn't work, you'll need to perform a clean installation of Windows. Let me know if you need the steps.
