Authenticator Verification loop issue

I seem to be stuck in a loop of not being able to use my authenticator app the way it is designed to be used, when microsoft prompts me to utilize the app, I can't, and every thing I do to try and fix it leads me back to using the authenticator app to verify something.
I'll admit I'm not very bright, so I might be missing something very obvious, but nevertheless I'm stuck in this loop.
