Microsoft for Life

I recently purchased a new Lenova Laptop after moving house. I'm a Senior and i had an IT gentleman come and set my new laptop up with IINET.

When I mentioned Microsoft, he said that i could pay $300 and have Microsoft for life rather than paying my annual subscription of Microsoft 365 Family Classic subscription. After some talking i did pay the $300.00 for life.

My question is: Have I been scammed? I have kept his name and phone number. Also, now that I have paid this $300 to this gentleman can I cancel my Microsoft 365 Family Classic subscription before it is due on the 11th of July 2026? OR do I still need to pay my annual Microsoft 365 Family Classic subscription.?

As a Senior my move was very traumatic with no immediate family close by, so I really hope my $300.00 isn't a big, greedy scam. I look forward to your reply, support and advice.

By the way your 132058 (Australia No.) is terrible. Every time I tried ringing it told me the No. is disconnected.

Kind Regards

Ms Annette Mclean

    Hi Annette,

Please log into your Microsoft account on this link, do you find the new Microsoft Office 2024 licence linked to your Microsoft account there?
