Adding an account

Hi all,

I have two separate environments:

• A Google Workspace tenant
• A Microsoft 365 tenant

These are completely isolated environments with no coexistence or synchronization between them.

Is it possible to add Google Workspace account as an additional account in the Outlook desktop application, similar to adding another email account?

If so:

• Is this supported with Google Workspace accounts?
• Are there any prerequisites or configuration requirements on the Google Workspace side?
• Will Outlook support adding Google Workspace account?

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Based on your description, it is possible to add a Google Workspace account as an additional account in the Outlook desktop application, similar to adding another email account. The Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 tenants do not need to have coexistence or synchronization configured for this scenario, because Outlook is only being used as an email client to connect to both accounts separately.

However, the Google Workspace account must be allowed to connect to third-party mail clients. On the Google Workspace side, the administrator may need to confirm that IMAP is enabled and that modern authentication/OAuth access is permitted for Outlook. Google Workspace no longer supports older “less secure app” sign-in methods that rely only on username and password, so the account should be added using the Google sign-in/OAuth flow where available. In Outlook for Windows, the user can add the account by going to File > Add Account in classic Outlook, or View settings > Accounts > Your accounts > Add Account in new Outlook, then entering the Google Workspace email address and completing the Google permission prompts. If the account cannot be added, please check with the Google Workspace administrator to confirm that IMAP, OAuth access, and third-party app access policies allow Microsoft Outlook to connect.
