, can you make sure that the key you're trying to store is in valid PEM format.
PEM Format should be similar to:
-----BEGIN RSA PRIVATE KEY-----
Proc-Type: 4,ENCRYPTED
DEK-Info: DES-EDE3-CBC,F57524B7B26F4694
Random string of characters will be in this block
-----END RSA PRIVATE KEY-----
