Hello,

55 devices with below error in wuahandler.log

Unable to read existing WUA Group Policy object. Error = 0x80004005.
Failed to Add Update Source for WUAgent of type (2) and id ({DB382BB1-B9C8-45BF-B98F-3D683B6D9D3F}). Error = 0x80004005.

I renamed the registry.pol and SoftwareDistribution Folder. Then updated Group Policy. Restarted Windows Update and SMSAgentHost service. Registry settings under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU are configured correctly.
But the issue did not solve.

Please help if any other settings to be verified to solve the issue?

Hi @Boopathi S ,

We could try the following method to see if the peoblem is solved.

Delete the contents of c:\windows\system32\grouppolicy

Run gpedit.msc remotely via psexec - this thankfully runs silently so the user isn't aware. gpedit.msc recreates the structure under the grouppolicy directory excl. registry.pol

From there, run an updates scan cycle, which recreates registry.pol and gets updates working again.
