PASSKEY

Does anyone know how to get rid of passkey completely on Windows 11? Almost every week it forgets my passkey, and I have to log in with my password.

I have to set a new passkey, and which intern (Profanity removed by Moderator) up all my login passkey for any website, email, etc. that was set up.

I am getting so tired of this (Profanity removed by Moderator) now. It is beyond a joke if Microsoft can't implement updates and keep them stable. Then it's a waste of time.

Plus, they hide the option to log in with a password for outlook which is more (Profanity removed by Moderator) around

Please, if anyone knows how to sort this, it would be much appreciated

If not, could someone recommend an operating system to replace windows with.

Thankyou D

    Hello DEAN,

Since you want to return to passwords, you do not need to keep recreating the passkey.

    • Open Settings > Accounts > Passkeys and delete the saved passkeys you no longer want.
    • Open Passkeys > Advanced options and turn off Save passkeys to this Windows device if that option is shown.
    • For the Microsoft account used with Outlook, open Microsoft account > Security > Manage how I sign in, then remove its passkey there as well.
    • If Microsoft Password Manager or another credential manager is listed under Advanced options, check it for another saved copy.

Deleting only the Outlook passkey may not remove copies stored elsewhere. When Outlook presents the passkey prompt, select Sign-in options or Sign in another way, then choose Password.

Also, changing or resetting the Windows Hello PIN or fingerprint can make an existing passkey unusable, which may explain why these methods have been failing together.

Before removing anything, make sure the password and at least one account recovery method still work.

Please set up Windows Hello if you haven't already. If a website supports passkey authentication, you may be able to register Windows Hello with the website.

If you have registered a non-Windows Hello passkey (for example, a new security key not registered with Window Hello) with a particular website, you must use that passkey to log in. I know passkeys can be confusing, so consider using the same verification method across all passkeys. Perhaps using the same PIN across all passkeys will make it easier for you.

    Configure Windows Hello
