When I attempt to view the version history for any document / pdf in a library, I get the error denoted above, screen shot herein. Looking at the ULS logs on the SharePoint server(s) there are errors that correlate to the time the version history was attempted to be accessed. Those errors are denoted below. We are running SharePoint 2019, but are not integrated with O365 at this time. Environment runs more like a 2016 instance, until we migrate to O365. Any help would be appreciated.

Getting Error Message for Exception System.Web.HttpUnhandledException (0x80004005): Exception of type 'System.Web.HttpUnhandledException' was thrown. ---> System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

    @David Brennan

    Whether this issue occurs in a specific library or all libraries? In one site collection or all site collections?

    Please go to Library settings -> Versioning settings -> Turn off the versioning -> Then turn on the versioning again then test the versioning whether works well.

    Check if your product trial has expired or license key has expired this might be one of the reason. please up vote if it solved your issue.
