I updated the security info email for another Microsoft account on June 17, 2026. However, the account is still displaying the previous security info email address and indicates that I am still in the 30-day waiting period. Since more than 30 days have already passed, I believe the waiting period should have ended. Could you please let me know how I can verify whether the 30-day waiting period has been completed?

I am just trying to understand what you have done here.

It appears that you recently made changes to your system, such as updating your BIOS, and were then prompted to reset your PIN. This is normal behavior. Whenever significant software changes are made, especially when installing a BIOS update, you may be asked to reset your PIN for security reasons.

However, it seems that you have forgotten the password for your Microsoft account and that you have two-factor authentication (2FA) enabled.

With 2FA, you must verify your identity using two separate methods.

One method can be your alternate email address, and another can be your phone number.

If you previously set up an authenticator app, that can also be used. However, Microsoft requires two forms of verification.

Currently, it appears that you have removed all your previous security information and replaced it with a new verification method.

Do you currently have two verification methods available to prove your identity? If not, you may no longer be able to sign in to your account.

In that case, you may need to perform a full factory reset of your PC to its default settings. This will completely erase all data on your hard drive, and you will then need to set up the computer with a new account.

    Hello,

I have already checked my account, but there has been no change. The account is still showing my old security info email address.

I need access to the updated security email because it is required to receive the verification code to unlock BitLocker on my drive. I have already waited more than 30 days, so the waiting period should have ended by now.

This issue has caused a significant delay and has cost me a lot of time. Could you please help me resolve this issue or check why the security information has not been updated yet?

    Thank you for your assistance.

Hello, thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A.

If you remove all of your previous security information and replace it with new one, your account will be placed in a restricted state for 30 days.

Since you updated your security information on June 17, 2026, it should now be fully updated and active as of today.

    1. Open an incognito (InPrivate) browsing window.
    2. Go to https://account.live.com/proofs/Manage (Security Settings Page)
    3. Sign in with the Microsoft account for which you changed the security information.

You can use the above link directly in the private browsing window.

See if you can sign in successfully.
