Shared folder from Onedrive as network drive

I have shared a folder on Onedrive (for everyone with the link) and want to map it as network drive in my explorer. I found in an instruction that I have to log into Onedrive and copy the CID-Code in the adress. But there is no value with CID, When I open Onedrive in the browser the adress is: https://xxxxx-my.sharepoint.com/

When I open the shared folder the browseradress is: https://xxxxxxx-my.sharepoint.com/my?id=%2Fpersonal%2Fnewsletter%5Fimagini%5Fde%2FDocuments%2FBackup%20Server&viewid=695d99c2%2D86c2%2D4b42%2D93c8%2D475bb77304f0

Here I see something with viewid=

I've copied this string. Then I tried to enter a new networkdrive connection: In the instruction they say, that I have to enter https://d.docs.live.net/ followed by the id. I did this and opened the connection. Then a login-window appears. I've entered the mailadress an the correct passwort. But this is not accepted.

How can I establish the network connection?

regards Ludger

    Hi Ludger,

Based on your information, you're mixing two different OneDrive systems:

    • The https://d.docs.live.net/<CID> method is for consumer/personal OneDrive, where a CID exists
    • Your URL xxxxx-my.sharepoint.com is OneDrive for Business/SharePoint Online, so you will not see a CID, and viewid= is not usable for mapping.

For OneDrive for Business, you just need to add the folder to File Explorer via OneDrive:

    • Open the shared folder in OneDrive/SharePoint in your browser
    • Make sure the OneDrive desktop sync client is running and signed in with the same account
    • Select the folder > click "Add shortcut to My files" > the folder should appear under your local OneDrive folder in file explorer.

Important: "Add shortcut to My files" is normally available for folders where you have permission, especially edit access. It is not available for individual files, and it may not work for anonymous “anyone with the link” access.
