How do I add a text and choice question together?

Currently, Microsoft Forms does not support creating a question that includes both Choice and Text options within the same question.

As a workaround, you can use separate questions. Add a Choice question first, such as “Do you like apples?”, and then place a Text question immediately below it, such as “Why or why not?”. This allows users to select an option and provide additional details in a separate response field.

For multiple-choice questions, you can use the built-in + Add "Other" choice option within the Choice question settings. When enabled, users who select Other are automatically provided with a small text box where they can enter a custom response without requiring a separate Text question.

You can also use branching logic to display a Text question only when a user selects a specific answer. To configure this, open the Choice question, select the three dots (...) in the upper-right corner, and choose Add branching. You can then configure the form so that a follow-up Text question appears only for certain responses, such as displaying a “Why?” question only when the user selects “Yes” or “No.”
