HOW DO i ENABLE MACROS ON AN EXCEL WORKBOOK OBTAINED FROM THE naic

First unblock the file within Windows to bypass the automated security filters that flag files originating from the internet. To do this, close the workbook, locate the file in Windows File Explorer, and right-click it to open its Properties. On the General tab, look at the very bottom for a security notice regarding files from other computers, check the "Unblock" box, and click Apply and OK.

Once the file is unblocked, open it in Excel and look for the yellow Security Warning bar that appears just below the top menu ribbon. Click the "Enable Content" button on this bar to allow the built-in NAIC macros to run for that session. If the yellow bar does not appear or the macros remain disabled, you can manually adjust your global settings by clicking File, selecting Options, and navigating to the Trust Center. Inside the Trust Center Settings, click on Macro Settings and choose "Disable all macros with notification" (or temporarily "Enable all macros") to ensure Excel prompts you to allow the file to function.
