glutInit Tutoring

Question

Sure wish there was a tutoring item somewhere that discussed the use of the "glutInit(..) use and follow-on commands to prepare to open a window for OpenGL, graphics output. Haveing considerable problems with the commands: glutInit() and arguments glutDisplayFunc and the argument and glutIdleFunc and display arguments. Recommendation for arguments to glutInit are &argc and argv, are they input, output why and how are they used? Additionally glutDisplayFunc is the argument "display" an input or output argument, how defined, getting link errors on all from Visual Studio, C++. Sid Kraft
