Help with Authenticator
Hi,
I'm hoping someone can help because Microsoft Support hasn't been able to resolve this.
I have full access to my Microsoft account (******@hotmail.com). I can:
- Sign into Windows 11 on my HP Spectre laptop.
- Access Outlook.
- Access my Microsoft Account.
- Access my Microsoft 365 subscription.
- Receive SMS verification codes.
However, whenever I try to access Security Settings, Microsoft asks me to approve the sign-in using Microsoft Authenticator.
The problem is that the Authenticator registration appears to have been lost.
My situation is:
- I still have both my old iPhone and my new iPhone.
- Microsoft Authenticator opens on both devices but contains no Microsoft account.
- Restoring from iCloud backup doesn't restore my account.
- Trying to add my Microsoft account back into Authenticator requires me to verify using... Microsoft Authenticator, so I'm stuck in a loop.
- Windows Hello is unavailable, and I don't have a recovery code.
I've already:
- Reinstalled Authenticator.
- Tried restoring from iCloud.
- Confirmed iCloud backup is enabled.
- Tried signing in from both my laptop and phone.
- Contacted Microsoft Support, but my support ticket was closed without resolving the issue.
It seems Microsoft still believes my account is registered with Authenticator, but the registration no longer exists on any of my devices.
Has anyone experienced this before?
Is there any way to reset or remove the existing Authenticator/passwordless registration from my Microsoft account without already having access to the Authenticator app, or does this require intervention from Microsoft's account security team?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!I'm hoping someone can help because Microsoft Support hasn't been able to resolve this.

Thank you! - I have already sent this request to account recovery and it seems they keep rejecting it for a password reset which is not what I want to do, I have tried two factor and one of the numbers is fine the second I don't know what this is and it kicks me out again doing the whole thing againHi,
