BSOD with stop code: DRIVER_OVERRAN_STACK_BUFFER (0xF7)

I've been having random daily crashes/restarts for like about a while now ever since I updated to windows but idk what the issue is. But besides that my PC has been working fine basically and I have everything up to date and I optimized everything I'm pretty sure.

Search for msinfo32.exe in the search bar, take a screenshot, and post it here so we can see the correct laptop model or desktop configuration.

Hi,

I checked the minidumps and they show errors involving FLTMGR and the Kernel, but an unrecognized error also appeared.

If possible, could you tell me if you built the system yourself or bought it pre-built with that Intel 14th Gen processor sometime between 2023 and 2024?

Did you make any changes to the BIOS or update it to the latest version?

It's custom and I updated my BIOS a year or 2 ago and I did it because of known CPU issues.

Hi,

I should inform you that your processor might have been affected by the Intel microcode issue; even after updating the BIOS, the damage is permanent because the degradation occurs over time.

I cannot say for certain if your processor is one of the affected units, but there is a strong possibility. If you have been experiencing issues for one to two years and a BIOS update resolved them, it implies your processor has degraded. In this case, I recommend initiating an RMA claim with Intel, to which you are entitled.

I recommend updating the BIOS to the latest version, but I need to know your motherboard version (1.0 or 1.1) to provide specific instructions.

Please keep in mind that while a BIOS update is recommended, it does carry risks. If the process is interrupted, your laptop might fail to boot. Therefore, if you lack experience with hardware and software, I recommend skipping this step, even though it is highly recommended.

To update the BIOS, you first need to disable BitLocker. To do this, open the Command Prompt (as administrator), run the command manage-bde -off C:, wait for the decryption process to complete, and restart your computer.

After updating the BIOS, I recommend using DDU.

Note: DDU is a third-party application used to completely uninstall and reinstall GPU drivers.

After downloading, extract DDU to a folder.

Run the Display Driver Uninstaller.exe application, select the "Device type" tab, and choose "GPU". After uninstalling the GPU driver, ensure you uninstall it for "All GPUs".

Click the first option, "Clean and restart", and wait for the process to complete.
