Hi ALTU,
Based on your description, it sounds like your microphone is working (others can hear you in Zoom), but Windows is unable to detect or use your speakers. The volume icon being stuck on mute may indicate that the audio output device is disabled, disconnected, or experiencing a driver issue.
Please try the following steps:
- Restart (not Shutdown) your device
- Select Start > Power > Restart.
- Please use Restart rather than Shut down, as Restart fully reloads Windows services and drivers, which can help resolve temporary audio issues.
- Check the audio output device
- Right-click the speaker icon on the taskbar and select Sound settings.
- Under Output, make sure the correct speaker device is selected.
- If multiple devices are listed, try selecting each one and test the sound.
- Run the Audio Troubleshooter
- Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
- Run the Playing Audio troubleshooter and apply any recommended fixes.
- Verify the speakers are enabled
- Open Control Panel > Sound.
- On the Playback tab, check whether your speakers appear.
- If they are disabled, right-click and select Enable, then set them as the default device.
- Check Device Manager
- Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
- Expand Sound, video and game controllers.
- If you see your audio device, right-click it and choose Update driver.
- If there is a warning icon, let us know what it shows.
- Download the latest audio driver from the manufacturer's support website
- Identify your computer make and model.
- Visit the manufacturer's official support page.
- Download and install the latest audio driver available for your Windows version.
- Restart the computer after the installation and check whether the speakers are detected correctly.
If the issue persists, please let us know:
- Your computer manufacturer and model.
- Whether you're using built-in speakers, USB speakers, Bluetooth headphones, or a docking station.
- Whether the speaker device appears in Sound Settings or Device Manager.
We'll be happy to help further.
