turned on my laptop and the touch pad no longer worked. I get an image of touch screen with line across it when laptop goes through start up. Then it disappears. It shows on device settings as on. I've checked device manager and updated driver. nothing seems to get it turned on. j

Hello, thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A.

It appears that your Touchpad function is disabled.

Please check whether your keyboard has a dedicated touchpad key (F5/F6 or F7) that turns the touchpad on or off. If it is set to off, press the key again to enable it. You can look up the touchpad key for your device model online and see whether it can be enabled.

If it is enabled, but still the touchpad isn't working,

    1. Open the Device Manager.
    2. Expand the arrow next to the Mice and Other Pointing Devices section.
    3. Right-click your touchpad driver, select Uninstall device - Select the 'Attempt to delete the driver software for this device check box (if this check box isn't available), you can click Uninstall.
    4. Once Uninstalled, restart your computer.

Note - Windows will automatically reinstall the touchpad drivers during this restart.

If you are still having issues, please share the make and model of your computer.

Type msinfo in the Search bar on the taskbar and click Enter.

Post a screenshot of the resulting dialog box.
