I'm told I need to upgrade my operating system in order to use Word THAT I PAY FOR EVERY MONTH!
I'm not ready, willing, or able to upgrade right now. So how can I use Word THAT I PAY FOR EVERY MONTH?
This is total BS, Microsoft. The app is updated. The activation key is useless. I pay to use Word and I can't use it?

Now I see that I need Monterey on my Mac, 12 or higher and I have 12.4 but Word still does not work even though I updated the app. Any advice would be appreciated and is there a support number I can call for this?
Your issue is compounded by the fact that your installation of Monterey [12.4] is seriously out of date. Version 12.7.6 is the final release of that edition of macOS. Contact Apple Support if you need assistance.

Thank you for trying but nothing seems to work. Word is updated to 16.78. I'm running Monterey v. 12.4.
It won't let me activate even though I'm paid up and have an activation number. (Excel does work).
Any other suggestions?

I just had a chat with a chat person. I was told I need to upgrade my OS in order for Word to work.
This is why I hate Microsoft and would like to be without any of their products. A total scam.
Plus, Microsoft makes everything a thousand times more difficult and complicated which is why I switched to Apple products 25 years ago and never looked back.
Word is updated to 16.78.
You also have to make sure that you are running Office 16.83 or later. See https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/lifecycle/officeinstall/update-m365-office-macos-ios . If your subscription is Microsoft 365 Personal, Microsoft 365 Family, or Microsoft 365 Premium, you should be able to update. Just in case your AutoUpdate installation isn't working, update that one first (see https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/lifecycle/officeinstall/update-office-for-mac-automatically for a download link).
