How to uninstall Claude for Excel and for PowerPoint desktop applications

I installed Claude for Excel and for PowerPoint about a month ago, and I need to uninstall. I have done lots of searches and chatting with Claude, and I can’t figure it out for the life of me. What I’ve done:

In both programs, tried to remove Claude by going to “Add-ins”. It doesn’t show up as an add-in in either program, even though it’s in the ribbon and works.

Deleted and reinstalled PPT, and it’s still there.

I am the admin for our Microsoft account, so I went to the admin center > Settings > Integrated apps to see if I could remove that way. In both my own and the admin account, there are no apps integrated.

So I installed the Claude for Excel integration, hoping I could uninstall it but that didn’t work.

All the troubleshooting I’m seeing tells me that I have to fix this with Microsoft, but I definitely installed them from my Claude account. Claude is not being at all helpful. I don’t want claude having any power to touch my desktop apps, can anyone please help me? Thank you so much.

    Hi Courtney,

Claude for Excel/PowerPoint is considered as AppSource SaaS-category apps by Microsoft. Therefore, to uninstall, you need to disable it through Office add-in deployment path instead of the generic Integrated apps > Get apps.

Since you are already an admin, please try these steps:

    • Sign in to Microsoft 365 Admin Center and navigate to Settings > Org Settings > scroll down to find "User owned apps and services" > ensure the option "Let users access the Office Store" is toggle on.

    • Look at the add-ins list, if you see the Claude Anthropic for Excel/PowerPoint, double click it > select Remove add-in in the bottom right

    • After that, go back to Settings > Org Settings > User owned apps and services > turn of "Let users access the Office Store" to prevent reinstallation, if that fits your organization policy.
    • Then go to sign into Microsoft 365 portal with the same account you use in Excel/PowerPoint desktop > open Excel/PowerPoint in the web version > open a blank file and go to Add-ins > Manage > Remove all the Claude add-ins if there is any left.

Hope this information will be helpful for your concern. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please feel free to share them in the comments on this post so I can continue to support you.

Thank you for your patience and your understanding.
