Sending, receiving, and organizing email in Outlook on the web for business
Dear @GC
According to my research, I've seen that many users also have the same issue where Outlook automatically scrolls to older messages or the bottom of a conversation thread after selecting Reply or Reply All, causing the focus to move away from the compose area.
To help me narrow down the cause of the scrolling behavior, could you please provide the following information?
- When did the issue start? Has it always occurred, or did it begin recently after an update or other change?
- Does it happen with all email threads or only specific conversations? For example, only long email chains, shared mailboxes, or conversations with many recipients.
- What happens exactly when you click Reply or Reply All?
- Does the page immediately jump to the bottom of the conversation?
- Does the cursor remain in the reply box, or does focus move away from it?
- If possible, could you try to disable conversation view temporarily? Settings > select Mail > Layout/Message List > Message Organization to alter your conversation view options.
In the meantime, please try these steps again:
Step 1: Use an InPrivate/Incognito browser window > This helps determine whether the behavior is related to cached browser data or an extension.
Step 2: Clear browser cache and cookies
Sign out of Outlook, clear the browser cache for Microsoft/Outlook sites, then sign back in.
Step 3: Try a different browser, different account, or device and check again to see if the issue persists.
On the other hand, if you're using the Outlook desktop application, please ensure it is fully updated, as Microsoft has addressed several scrolling and focus-related issues in recent Outlook releases
I hope the information shared will help you move in the right direction. Please try the steps above and let me know if they work. If not, we can continue to work together to identify the cause of the problem.
I appreciate your patience and understanding. I'm looking forward to your update
