Heading not centered when formatting hidden

I intend to make sure my heading to be centered, but when I hide the formatting symbol, my heading aligned to the left. Not sure what is the issue here. I had to delete the hidden (red) Chapter 1 to make sure its centered. Before this it was perfectly fine even without deleting it. I need this hidden red text as the subsequent heading in this particular section or chapter will follow the hidden red numbering.

It happened even with new document. Before today it was working well. I am using a template file for added information.

    You don't need the red part. Instead, format your Heading 1 as centered and all caps. Then select I, II, III as the numbering style, with Chapter as the label, as shown below.

    Note that the paragraph should be centered but the heading number aligned left.
