I understand you're experiencing a significant slowdown in your Azure Synapse Dedicated SQL pools since last Tuesday. To help diagnose this, I need a few more details:
- Are all dedicated SQL pools affected, or only specific ones? Please specify which pools or workloads are experiencing the slowdown.
- Have there been any recent changes to your data, queries, indexes, or configurations around the time the issue started?
- Can you provide specific examples of queries or operations that are running slower, along with their previous and current execution times?
- Have you observed any error messages, resource bottlenecks (CPU, memory, IO), or alerts in the Synapse monitoring tools during this period?

Based on your latest information, we understand that the performance issue is still present in the production dedicated SQL pool. The UAT and DEV pools continue to perform normally, while the production workload is taking significantly longer to complete.
Since the issue is still ongoing, we would like to continue the investigation rather than consider the issue resolved.
Could you please share in private message the two affected queries along with:
- Approximate execution time in PROD and UAT
- Whether the same query plan is being used in both environments
- The DWU/performance level configured for the PROD and UAT pools
- The approximate time when the slowdown occurs
- Any relevant monitoring observations for the PROD pool during execution
You previously mentioned that you are available on Teams in Canada Eastern Time. Please share a convenient time window, and we can coordinate a call to review the issue together.
Once we have the query details and a chance to compare the PROD and UAT behavior, we can continue narrowing down the cause of the performance degradation.
