A Microsoft file hosting and synchronization service.
Hey there, Teri
I pay for 6TB of storage space monthly. The money is automatically debited from my account. Every month without fail, I get the error message ‘not enough cloud storage’.
Please can you sign into your Microsoft account here: https://onedrive.live.com/?ocid=cmmskgzokmj&v=managestorage
Do you see you have 6 TB of storage?
Every month without fail I cannot save my documents (even to the hard drive) when this error occurs. 2TB is used so resetting this app is a nightmare. I am constantly resetting this app which then struggles to resync 2TB data.
So after a day, when this error occurs where it tells you that you don't have enough storage, it resolves it's self, leaving you to have to re-sync OneDrive again on the PC?
My other issue is that I cannot see what I have in my one drive. I have a huge amount of photographs and videos on my hard drive.
This happens to me from time to time. This can happen when the files are marked as online only, which will be shown with a blue cloud icon next to the image. So in order for OneDrive to show the thumbnail, it must get this information from the OneDrive servers.
This means that if your PC isn't connected to the internet, the thumbnails do not show. It mean that if the PC is processing other processes, and the usage is quite high, the PC prioritises the tasks it must compute. Thus, won't show the thumbnails for the pictures/documents. I have seen this myself when I am programming. When I have Visual Studios and other developer software open, my RAM usage is around 90%. SO when I open the File Explorer and navigate to pictures, my thumbnails do not show unless I open them.
There is information on how the files on demand feature works on OneDrive: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/onedrive/save-disk-space-with-onedrive-files-on-demand-for-windows
Are your files online only or stored on the PC?
In terms of the problem, I suspect it is down to what information your PC is processing. From what you have described in the thread it looks to be that the PC is handling a lot of data and as a result, to make room to handle other processes, it is sacrificing displaying thumbnails.
You can check this by right-clicking onto your Taskbar and selecting Task Manager
You can then see what your usage is. If you look at the memory, this shows your RAM usage.
Hope this helps,
Nathan
