Unable to copy and paste files over RDP in Win 10

I'm using the Remote Desktop Connection (mstsc.exe) to connect from a local Windows 10 computer (Version 21H1 OS Build 19043.1288) to a remote Windows 10 computer (Version 2004 OS Build 19041.1237). I can copy and paste text and images between applications on the local and remote computers but I can not copy and paste files. I can not see the local drives in Windows File Explorer on the remote computer. I can copy and paste files between the local Win 10 computer and a remote Win7 computer without difficulty.

I have enabled access to local devices and resources (clipboard and drives) in the Remote Desktop Connection app settings. The group policy states on the remote computer for 'Do not allow clipboard redirection' and 'Do not allow drive redirection' were originally set to 'not configured' but I have changed them to 'disabled' in the course of my troubleshooting. I have killed and restarted the rdpclip.exe process (as suggested elsewhere) many times.

What else can I do to resolve or troubleshoot this problem?

I'd appreciate any help you can offer.

Thanks,

Stead Kiger

    Hi there,

For some users simply restarting the computer fixed the issue. For some other users, opening and closing file explorer fixes the issue .

So it seems you have tried the methods as per this link https://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/33801.remote-desktop-troubleshooting-unable-to-copy-paste-files.aspx

Additionally try out these options and see if they are helpful

    Use System 32 Folder
    Reset the rdpclip.exe process
Use the “echo off” command on Command Prompt
    Restart Windows explorer
    Check individual applications
    Disable the antivirus program temporarily
