    Try these steps in order:

    1. Unlock Microsoft Authenticator If the app is locked, the entry box or prompt may not appear.
    2. Check notifications Make sure notifications for Microsoft Authenticator are enabled and not silent. Also check text messages in case a verification code arrived silently.
    3. Update the app An outdated Authenticator app can cause sign-in failures. Install the latest version.
    4. Check internet connectivity If the device has network issues, authentication can fail. Try switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data.
    5. Check date and time settings Make sure the device date and time are correct.
    6. Use another sign-in method if available On the sign-in screen, look for options such as I don’t have my authenticator app, Use a different way to sign in, or Show more verification options. If another email, phone, or recovery method was already set up, use that instead.
    7. If access to security info is lost
      • If the password is known but access to some security info is lost, add a new way to sign in on the Advanced security options page, confirm it with a code, then remove the old method.
      • If access to all security info is lost, select I don't have any of these at the Verify your identity prompt and follow the steps to replace the security info. After replacement, sign-in is blocked for 30 days.
      • Do not change all security info at the same time, because the account may be restricted for 30 days.
    8. If the account is a work or school account Contact the organization’s IT admin or Help desk to clear or reset the verification settings.
    9. If still blocked Use the Microsoft sign-in helper or Contact Support. Support agents cannot send verification codes or change account details.
