Refund impossible to get

Last month our 7 year old grandson was playing a normal computer game (NOT X BOX) and charges accumulated on our credit card. Logging onto Microsoft and trying to find the right area to request a refund is like spending all day on a roundabout. It appears as though they make it impossible to answer your questions or help you. I found a 1800 number and the "computer" on the other end couldn't help me when I said I want to talk to a human, she hung up on me. Customer service is obviously NOT a huge priority for Microsoft and they appear to be happy to rip people off. I told our grandson that it was NOT his fault. Pathetic customer service by Microsoft. Run around and dead ends is all you get. Surely it isn't that hard to be able to TALK to a HUMAN.

    Hey there, Belinda Dawson

No I do not know what game(s) it was down the bottom of the computer and one was like the kids had to drive a car and run over gems (maybe). I had no idea it was something that I may be charged $$$$$$ for. I thought it was a simple kids game.

Please can you sign into this link here: https://account.microsoft.com/orders

Do you see the game purchase on there?

The amount I was charged are as follows (that may help you work out the name of the game-not that the name of that game is important. It is the principal of the matter. Pinch of gems $3 IS-2 upgrade pack $3 Pile of gems $22.45 (Ridiculous), Turn of ads $6 (Really ridiculous) and Starter pack $3 A total of $37.45.

Thanks for this information. The reason why I asked is because, depending on what the game is will depend on how you can obtain a refund for the purchase.

When searching for some of these, I did find similar games that were included on Xbox Game Pass. I know in your original question you mentioned 'not Xbox', however there is a refund method on the Xbox site that can cover games that are not on Xbox, but PC only.

Please can you click onto this link: https://xbox.com/refund

When the page loads, please can you click onto sign-in, using the Microsoft account that that these accidental purchases were made on

Once you have signed into your account, you should hopefully see the games/purchases show under request availability (Mine is blank because I haven't made any purchases recently)

If you do see the purchases there, please select them and select request a refund at the bottom. This will submit the refund request to the Xbox team who will review your request.

Please let me know if they show or not. If they do not show, we can look at trying through another refund method.

Do you have to have a yearly subscription to Microsoft 365. Can the disk be purchased as a one off and then I understand you don't get updates but I would like to know the answer to that question too

I do have a subscription to Microsoft 365. Microsoft 365 is a subscription you can subscribe to. You can pay yearly or monthly for this.

You can buy Microsoft Office as a one off payment. However, they don't last for ever, as eventually the Office version will be unsupported and stop receiving updates. An example of this is Office 2021, 2019 and earlier. All these are now unsupported, and stop receiving updates. When this happens, this can create problems in the future.

If you are happy with purchasing the different versions of Office that are standalone, then you can have a look at the versions that are available: https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/microsoft-365/p/office-home-2024/CFQ7TTC0PQVJ

Most of the products now are digital based, with digital product keys and download links rather then your traditional installation disks. If you want further help with the office question, please create a new thread for that question and let me know. I am happy to jump into both threads and continue helping. This way, it keeps everything focused on one topic rather then multiple topics 😎

    Hope this helps,
    Nathan
