What are the settings for classic outlook to send/receive IMAP emails from google mail?

Hi

To use Gmail IMAP with classic Outlook, first enable IMAP in Gmail:

Gmail Web → Settings → See all settings → Forwarding and POP/IMAP → Enable IMAP.

In Outlook, choose manual setup and use these settings:

Incoming mail (IMAP): Server: imap.gmail.com Port: 993 Encryption: SSL/TLS

Outgoing mail (SMTP): Server: smtp.gmail.com Port: 465 (SSL) or 587 (STARTTLS)

Username: your full Gmail address.

If your Gmail account has 2-Step Verification enabled, create an App Password and use that instead of your normal Gmail password:

After entering the App Password in Outlook, Gmail should send and receive normally.

For classic Outlook, the supported Gmail IMAP setup path is:

1. In classic Outlook, select File > Add Account.
2. Enter the Gmail address and select Connect.
3. In the Google sign-in window, confirm the account and select Next.
4. Enter the password and complete the prompts.
5. On the Google permissions screen, select Allow.

If Outlook shows Something went wrong, select Retry and complete the Gmail sign-in again.

If manual IMAP setup is needed:

1. Open classic Outlook and select File > Add Account.
2. Enter the email address.
3. Select Advanced options.
4. Check Let me set up my account manually.
5. Select Connect.
6. Select IMAP.
7. Enter the incoming and outgoing server settings provided by the email provider, then select Next.
8. Enter the password and select Connect.

Important Gmail-specific notes:

• On the Google permissions screen, the access box for Microsoft apps & services can access: "Read, compose, send, and permanently delete all your email from Gmail." must be accepted. If that was missed, Gmail setup can fail or send/receive can return errors such as 0x800CCC0E.
• Starting with Current Channel Version 2412 Build 18324.20168, classic Outlook includes a Retry solution for this Gmail sign-in permission issue.
• If Outlook does not accept the Gmail password and the password is correct, an older Outlook version may require two-factor authentication and a Google app password.
• If Outlook never prompts for a password during IMAP setup, on the IMAP details page make sure Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) is unchecked.
