Excel VBA editor Mac

Question

Using MS Excel (Version 16.111) on MacBook Air with Microsoft 365 Personal subscription desktop application. When I try to launch the VBA editor, the editor window pops up but is non-responsive. I can't move it, resize it, click any feature inside, can't add a module...absolutely no response to use input except force quitting with Cmd-Q. Why is this and how do I fix it?
