    Hii,

If it is an internal laptop camera if yes

Search for msinfo32.exe in the search bar, take a screenshot, and post it here so we can see the correct laptop model or desktop configuration.

If it is a laptop, check if the keyboard has a key to activate the camera—usually between the F8 key (FN+F8) and a dedicated camera button on the side of the laptop.

Check the location of the camera; if it doesn't have a privacy shutter, it might be partially covered.

    User's image

Usually, to open it fully, there is a sliding mechanism at the top.

If it is an external USB camera, what model is it?

    Thanks

    Try these steps in order:

    1. Check whether the camera works in Windows itself.
      • Open Start > Camera.
      • If the preview works there, the problem is likely with Zoom or another app’s settings.
    2. Restart the PC.
      • Select Start > Power > Restart.
      • A full restart is recommended because waking from sleep is not the same.
    3. Check for Windows updates.
      • Go to Start > Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates.
      • If available, also check Advanced options > Optional updates for camera driver updates.
      • Install updates, then restart.
    4. Run the camera troubleshooter.
      • Go to Start > Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
      • Find Camera and select Run.
    5. Check antivirus or firewall software.
      • A blocked camera can be caused by security software.
      • Temporarily disable or pause protection in the antivirus or firewall app, then test the camera again.
      • If the error is 0xA00F4246 or 0x800706BE, the camera may be locked by security software.
    6. Update the camera driver.
      • Open Start > Device Manager.
      • Expand Cameras.
      • Right-click the camera and select Update driver.
      • Select Search automatically for drivers.
      • Restart after the update.
    7. If the problem started after a Windows update, roll back the driver.
      • In Device Manager, right-click the camera > Properties.
      • Open the Driver tab.
      • Select Roll Back Driver if available, then restart.
    8. Reinstall the camera driver.
      • In Device Manager, right-click the camera > Properties.
      • On the Driver tab, select Uninstall Device.
      • If shown, select the option to remove or delete the driver software.
      • In Device Manager, open Action > Scan for hardware changes.
      • Restart and test again.
    9. Check for a hardware camera block.
      • Some laptops have a camera privacy shutter near the lens.
      • Some also have a keyboard key or Fn key combination with a camera icon that turns the webcam on or off.
    10. If using an external webcam:
    • Make sure it is firmly connected to USB.
    • Test it on another device to rule out hardware failure.

If the camera works in the Camera app but not in Zoom, the issue is with the app settings rather than Windows.
