    Hi,

If your camera is not working during a Microsoft Teams meeting, please try these steps:

    1. Make sure your camera is not being used by another application.
    2. In Teams, go to Settings → Devices → Camera and select the correct camera.
    3. Check your computer’s camera privacy settings and make sure Teams has permission to access the camera.
    4. Close and restart Teams, then restart your computer if needed.
    5. Make sure your camera drivers and Microsoft Teams are up to date.
    6. If you are using an external webcam, disconnect and reconnect it or try another USB port.

    Hi @Sharon O'Hagan-Wong

I recommend trying the steps provided in the AI response first. Then, you can also follow the detailed guidance in the following article: My camera isn't working in Microsoft Teams | Microsoft Support

As a quick check, please try using Teams on the web to see if your camera works there. If it does, you can use the web version as a temporary workaround for any urgent meetings.

Please let me know the results. If you have any questions or need further support, please don’t hesitate to reach out at any time.

    Try these steps in order:

    1. Check whether another app is using the camera
      • Close apps that may use the camera, such as Skype, FaceTime, browser tabs, or other meeting apps.
      • If using an external camera, unplug it and plug it back in.
      • Restart the device.
    2. Make sure Teams and the device are up to date
      • Install the latest Windows or macOS updates.
      • In Teams, check for app updates and make sure the latest Teams version is installed.
    3. Test the camera in Teams
      • In Teams, select Settings and more at the top right.
      • Go to Settings > Devices.
      • Under Audio Settings, select Make a test call.
      • Review the results summary after the test call.
      • Note: test calls are not available in Teams on the web.
    4. If using Windows, check camera permissions
      • Open Settings > Privacy & security > Camera.
      • Turn on Let apps access your camera.
      • Turn on Microsoft Teams (work or school).
      • If already on, turn it off and back on.
      • Also make sure Let desktop apps access your camera is turned on, because Teams is a desktop app.
      • If camera access is greyed out, an administrator must enable it.
    5. If using macOS, check camera permissions
      • Open System Settings.
      • Select Security & Privacy.
      • Under Privacy, select Camera.
      • Make sure Microsoft Teams (work or school) is selected.
      • Close apps and restart the device.
    6. If using Teams on the web, allow camera access in the browser
      • Edge: Settings and more > Settings > Cookies and site permissions > Camera > turn on Ask before accessing (recommended).
      • Chrome: Settings > Privacy and security > Site settings > Permissions > Camera > select the correct camera and set Sites can ask to use your camera.
      • Safari: Preferences > Websites > Camera > set When visiting other websites to Ask or Allow.
      • Firefox: Settings > Privacy & Security > Permissions > Camera > Settings > allow access for the Teams site, then refresh Teams.
    7. If Windows still does not detect the camera correctly
      • Check camera drivers and update them.
      • Also verify antivirus or third-party security software is not blocking camera access.
    8. If the camera still fails
      • If using Teams in a Virtual Desktop Infrastructure, contact the IT admin.
      • If browser or device settings are managed by policy, contact the IT admin.
      • If the issue appears to be hardware-related, contact the device manufacturer.
