Processes in Microsoft 365 for setting up Office apps, redeeming product keys, and activating licenses.
You can install Microsoft 365 on your new computer by signing in to your Microsoft account with the same email address and password you used before. Because your Microsoft 365 subscription is linked to your Microsoft account rather than to a specific computer, you do not need to go through a complicated transfer process.
On your new computer, open a web browser and sign in to your Microsoft account. Locate your Microsoft 365 subscription and select Install apps or Install Office. Download and run the installation file, then follow the on-screen instructions to install the Microsoft 365 applications.
Once the installation is complete, open an application such as Word or Excel. Sign in with the same Microsoft account associated with your Microsoft 365 subscription. The application should then recognize your subscription and activate automatically.
If the old computer has crashed and you have reached the device or installation limit, you can manage your devices from your Microsoft account. Look for Devices or View apps & devices, and, if available, sign out of or deactivate the old computer. This can free up an installation slot for your new computer.
