I have tried every way to reset pin. I have went to sign in options and every-time I do on my phone it just goes to sign-in key or passkey. Never an option on pin. I’m trying to get the account on my gaming PC with my Xbox gamepass but cannot figure out the pin or change it.

    Hello Datrick Roberts,

A Windows Hello PIN belongs to the specific PC where it was created. It cannot be viewed or reset through your phone’s passkey screen.

Could you share a screenshot showing exactly where the PIN is requested, and confirm whether it appears in:

    • The Windows sign-in screen
    • The Xbox app
    • Microsoft Store
    • A Microsoft account webpage

Please hide your email address, QR code, device name, and other personal information. This will confirm whether it is asking for the PC’s existing Windows Hello PIN or Microsoft account verification.

If the PIN is forgotten, reset it from Windows instead of the phone passkey flow.

    1. At the Windows sign-in screen, select Sign-in options.
    2. Choose the PIN icon if it is not already selected.
    3. Select I forgot my PIN.
    4. Complete the identity verification steps, then create a new PIN.

If already signed in with another method, use:

    1. Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options.
    2. Select PIN (Windows Hello).
    3. Select I forgot my PIN and follow the prompts.

If the goal is only to sign in and the PIN reset is looping, use another available sign-in method first, such as the account password, because Windows supports signing in with a password, PIN, or Windows Hello methods.

For a work or school device, PIN reset can require additional verification, and on Microsoft Entra hybrid joined devices it may require corporate network connectivity to domain controllers.
