Are you saying that Office was included when you purchased your computer? In that case, check with the seller which specific product you have. The distinction is important, because what you mentioned—Office 2004 and Microsoft 365—are two different licenses.

    Hi!

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A forum.

There are several reports of this exact error with new computers. There is a higher chance that the problem was that the laptop included Office Home & Student, while Microsoft 365 had been installed instead.(Mismatch)

First, you need to validate what is really installed to your laptop. Go to Settings → Apps → Installed apps. You need to search for Office.

Check exactly what is installed. You need check and validate what it says like, Office Home 2024, Office Home & Business 2024, or Microsoft 365.
