    Hi, @Andrew Renda

To fix this, please try signing out of all Office apps on your Mac, then sign back in using the same Microsoft account that’s linked to your subscription.

If the message still appears, I suggest uninstalling Office completely, then reinstalling it from your Microsoft account services page to make sure it’s properly linked:

    Then, to reinstall Microsoft Office:

    • Go to https://account.microsoft.com/services
    • Sign in using the same Microsoft account linked to your license.
    • Find your Microsoft 365 Subscription and click the "Install".
    • That will download the installer for the Office apps, just run it and follow the steps.

If anything’s unclear or the "Install" option still doesn’t show, feel free to let me know. I’ll be happy to walk you through it!

Click "Add comment" to let me know.

    Thanks!

On Mac, this message usually means the subscription is tied to a different account than the one currently signed in, or the App Store purchase has not been restored correctly.

    Try these steps in order:

    1. Sign out of Word and all Office apps
      • Open Word.
      • Sign out of the current account.
      • Close all Office apps.
    2. Sign back in with the account used when the subscription was purchased
      • If the subscription was bought through Apple, it is associated with the Microsoft account that was signed in to Office at the time of purchase.
      • If there is any doubt, search email accounts for the Microsoft purchase confirmation to identify the correct Microsoft account.
    3. Verify the subscription is active
    4. Restore the purchase in Office for Mac
      • After signing in with the correct Microsoft account, use Restore previous purchase in the Office app.
      • This is the recommended step for Office for Mac purchase-association and receipt issues.
    5. If Word still shows not activated
      • Remove local Office license files using Microsoft’s official license removal tool, then restart the Mac.
      • This is safer and more complete than deleting Keychain entries manually.
    6. Reinstall if needed
      • Remove Word and reinstall it.
      • If the subscription was originally purchased through the Mac App Store, reinstall from the Mac App Store and then run Restore previous purchase again.
    7. If someone else originally set up Office
      • If another person installed Office and their account became associated with the product instead of the correct one, support is required and proof of purchase should be available.
    8. Contact Microsoft Support if it still fails
      • If the purchase is already associated with another Microsoft account, or restore does not fix it, Microsoft Support is the next step.
      • For server-side association errors, support is also recommended if the issue continues.
