Opened Word today and got alert saying I need to activate 365 to create and edit. I clicked on 'activate' and got error code 0x0. Hot to fix? My 365 subscription is up to date as is OS and Word. Why is this happening now?

If you are running Monterey or newer and are using Office 2021 or better, you may be experiencing a bug in a recent update. Please try the steps on this page: Unknown Error 0x0 or License not found error in Microsoft 365 or Office running on macOS

The 0x0 error is a widely reported problem with the Office apps on an Apple Mac at the moment caused by the July 13 update

At the top left of your Desktop, click the Apple icon and select 'About this Mac', what version of MacOS is installed on your computer?

If your version of MacOS is either Sonamo, Sequoia, Tahoe or Golden Gate, then the solution to this error is to completely uninstall the Office apps using the steps provided on this link, then download and reinstall the Office apps.

If your version of MacOS is earlier than those versions, what version of MacOS do you have on your Apple Mac?

Try signing out of Word (File > Account > Sign Out) and signing back in — that usually fixes error 0x0 by forcing Office to re-check your license. If that doesn't work, run a Quick Repair on Office from Control Panel. This usually happens after a background Windows/Office update, not because of anything on your end.
