Being from the beautiful and friendly nation of Guadeloupe has no effect on Windows Update. The updates are tested on literally tens of thousands of different computers, but they all have one thing in common: They are running supported configurations. Therefore, to give yourself the best chance of success with updates:

• Start with a clean install.
• Only install on supported hardware.
• Only install supported software.
• Only use hardware and software in the way they were designed to be used.
• Only make changes to your computer that are supported by hardware manufacturers and software developers.

From the time I learned these lessons, 22 years ago, none of my computers have had a problem with updates.

Try these steps in order:

1. Run the Windows Update troubleshooter.
   • Select Start > Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
   • Find Windows Update and select Run.
   • Follow the on-screen steps.
2. Restart the PC, then try Windows Update again.
   • Go to Start > Power > Restart.
   • Then open Start > Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates.
3. Check the internet connection.
   • Open Start > Settings > Network & Internet > Wi‑Fi.
   • Make sure the device is connected.
4. Check free disk space.
   • Windows needs at least 16 GB free for a 32-bit OS or 20 GB for a 64-bit OS to upgrade.
   • If storage is low, free up space and try again.
5. Repair Windows system files.
   • In the taskbar search box, type command prompt.
   • Select Run as administrator.
   • Run:

          DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
     

   • Wait for the message that the operation completed successfully.
   • Then run:

          sfc /scannow
     

   • Wait until the scan reaches 100%, close Command Prompt, and try Windows Update again.
6. If the update still fails, do a clean restart of Windows to reduce software conflicts, then try the update again.
7. If third-party hardware was added recently, update those drivers from the hardware manufacturer, then check for updates again.
8. If nothing works, a clean installation of Windows 11 is available from the software download page. This is a major step, so back up personal files first.
