Managing sound and video settings during Teams meetings and calls for optimal communication
Hi @Wells Amara
Based on the information you provided, I understand that during a Teams call, you cannot turn on your microphone or camera. Both options appear grayed out, and a prohibition symbol is displayed when you move the pointer over them.
This may occur when the meeting organizer has disabled the microphone or camera for attendees. In this situation, the controls will appear dimmed and you will not be able to enable them yourself. Please ask the meeting organizer or a presenter to check Meeting options > Participation and make sure Allow mic for attendees and Allow camera for attendees are enabled.

If the issue also occurs in meetings that you create or in regular Teams calls, please try the following:
- Go to Teams > Settings and more > Settings > Devices and confirm that the correct microphone and camera are selected.
- Under Audio settings, select Make a test call to test your microphone.
- Close any other applications that may be using the camera or microphone.
- Check your device’s privacy permissions and make sure Microsoft Teams is allowed to access the microphone and camera.
- If you use Teams in a browser, select the lock or site permissions icon next to the website address and set Microphone and Camera to Allow.
- Restart Teams and your device, then test again.
On Windows, you can check the permissions under Settings > Privacy & security > Microphone and Settings > Privacy & security > Camera. Make sure device access, application access, Microsoft Teams access, and desktop application access are enabled. Microsoft also recommends checking browser permissions when using Teams on the web.

If this is a work or school account and the controls remain unavailable in every meeting and call, please contact your IT administrator. A Teams meeting policy or organizational policy may be preventing you from using audio or video. Some Teams audio settings may be unavailable because of policies configured by the meeting organizer or IT administrator.
To identify the cause, could you confirm whether this happens in only one specific meeting or in every Teams call and meeting?
